Naturalization process

To change your foreign driving licence:

Get the required documents:

♦ hungarian certified translation of your foreign driving licence,
♦ your foreign driving licence,
♦ medical certificate for "B" vehicle category, (our GP can make it for you)
♦ ID or passport,
♦ resident permit (or the 1 year visa),
♦ address card (or the white address registration card),
♦ your foreign elementary or higher school certificate (it can be elementary-, high school degree or university certificate),

2. With the documents number 1 to 6, visit the Central Office (Central Office for Administrative and Electronic Public Services) address: 1133 Budapest, Visegrádi u. 110-112, or any Local Office for Administrative and Electronic Public Services.

♦ in some days it will be judged what kind of exam(s) you should take, it can be only theoretical or theoretical and practical together.

3. With the document number 7 (school degree) visit Educational Agency (OH - Oktatási Hivatal). It will be corresponded here (that is necessary to signing in to the theory exam not to the course).

4. Visit the Driving School and take the necessary exam(s).

5. Visit again the Office for Administrative and Electronic Public Services with the documents mentioned above and with the exam certificate. In a few days you can get your driving licence.

Central Office of Government decree: 9000HUF,
interpreter for the theoretical course: 10.900HUF,
request for an oral theory test: 6000HUF,
theory exam:6000HUF,
practical exam: 12.000HUF

driving school fees:
theoretical course (optional),
driving session (optional) recommended at least 100 min driving 7500HUF,
medical certificate 8000HUF (optional)
highway code book (optional) 6000HUF.
